How Beach Volleyball Sand Socks can Protect Your Feet

One of the most popular outdoor sports is beach volleyball. It’s super engaging and requires just a net and a volleyball to enjoy. While it’s perfectly normal to play beach volleyball barefoot, it’s important to take care of your feet.

Foot-related issues generally crop up during the warmer months when the sand can get super hot, making it harder for you to stand on the beach comfortably. That’s when beach volleyball sand socks can play a huge role in enhancing your experience.

But first, is the sand hot?

A lot of beach volleyball players have had to get treated for heat burns on their feet. To know exactly when the sand is too hot, put your hand on the sand for 10 seconds. If you can make it through the full 10 seconds, then the sand’s not hot. But if you cannot stand for even 10 seconds on the sand, you’ll have to put on the volleyball sand socks.

What are sand socks?

Sand socks — unlike conventional cotton ones that act as a barrier within a pair of shoes — act as a barrier between your feet and the sand. These are supposed to be worn without shoes. Sand socks are suitable for both recreational and professional beach activities.

Sand socks have a unique composition that allows players to train on the sand for long periods of time. You can continue to practice when temperatures increase the sand to painful levels and you don’t have to worry about blisters or burns on their feet.

Socks consisting of a poly-cotton blend or synthetic fabrics are the most common. Ordinary socks don’t have some of the features that sand socks possess because they are designed to fit inside shoes. Sand socks are snug enough to keep the sand from getting through, yet light enough to preserve your speed.
