How to “Break the Ice” with a New Team

Being in sports, one of the most important things to know is how to improve team chemistry so your team performs better. Icebreakers are activities that can help teams get to know each other .

Working with a new team makes this an even more important event and here are some great icebreakers:

  • Show & tell

Everyone brings something that’s important to them, that’s appropriate to share with the group. It might be a keepsake from a grandparent or a photo of a fun vacation. It gives the kids a chance to learn a bit about each other.

  • Two truths and a lie

Two truths and a lie is another excellent game you can play in small groups. These can be restricted to a theme but you can make the choice. The group can decide what are the truths and a lie, and this is a great game especially if the participants include something funny that has happened in the past.

  • Team trivia

Let everyone submit a fact about themselves. Compile all the facts on a list, and share them with the group, one by one. For each fact, give the group a chance to guess who the fact is about, for a fun competition that will keep them engaged.

With these super fun games, you’ll be able to break the ice and help your team understand each other!
