How to Stretch Before Practice

One of the most important activities before working out or exercising is to stretch. Stretching can get your muscles prepped for a more strenuous workout while also ensuring that you don’t get seriously injured.

Stretching the right way is important for a more comfortable and enjoyable workout session. Here are its benefits:

  • One of the key benefits of stretching is that you will reduce muscle soreness during the practice. As your muscles get warmed up, it becomes easier to add extra resistance and push your limits.
  • Good stretching doesn’t just prevent injuries, it also allows for good post-workout recovery. Before and after working out, a little bit of stretching ensures you don’t feel as much pain the next day or immediately.

How much should we stretch?

It all depends on the body part that you’re planning on working out for that day. If it’s sports practice, then a general stretch of all your body parts is important. You can complete a good stretch workout for around 10 minutes, and then jog a round or two to loosen the muscles around the lower part of the body.

Post-workout, a stretch for about five to ten minutes is sufficient.

How can we determine the best stretches to do?

Before you do your stretches, you need to ensure you’re doing them with the right technique. This makes it easier for you to enjoy a more powerful stretching session without adversely affecting your muscles.

Make sure you always follow a strict stretching regimen before any vigorous exercise and you’ll be good to go!
