Solo Volleyball Drills for Practicing over Break

Playing sports is a lot of fun but the off-season is one of the periods when you need to keep yourself fit for the next year ahead. One of the best things you can do is practice drills during the break to get yourself ready.

Being at home, there are a few drills which can do to practice over the break:

  • Jump Rope series for quick feet
  • Pace jumps, 30 seconds
  • Right and left foot jumps, 30 seconds each
  • Double right and left, 30 seconds each
  • As fast as possible, 30 seconds

Repeat this 3 times with a 1-minute rest in between the sets.

  • Abdomen workout
  • Planks (3 sets. Sets of 30, 45 and 60 seconds)
  • Sit-ups
  • Home drills

When you’re practicing skills at home, you need to concentrate on your technique. You can do that by getting your hands in the right position while sitting and swinging your arms through an imaginary ball and also planting your feet on the ground while passing.

  • Passing drills
  • Plant your feet and lower them and simulate passing in a live game
  • Pass the ball to yourself, without moving your feet
  • Pass the ball to yourself moving backwards and forward
  • Pass side-to-side and shuffle your feet
  • Hitting drills
  • Practice approach within an open space
  • Perform arm swings with your dumbbell
  • Hit against a wall

You can perform these drills around three times every week throughout summer. Keep practicing and you’ll be ready for the next season.
