As athletes, you are always on the go, whether you are attending classes, competitions, work, or all of the above.

Some days it might be difficult to remember and prepare snacks that are convenient, healthy, and good sources of energy. Here are some of the best snacks for traveling athletes:

  • Apples

Apples are a readily available meal that is already in a portable form! They hold up quite well when placed into a bag and may be stored for quite some time without needing to be refrigerated. 

Apples are strong in vitamin C and antioxidants, and they also include a high amount of fiber and water, which helps to keep you feeling satisfied for longer periods of time when compared to other fruits.

  • Nuts

It is important to note that nuts are a wonderful supply of healthy fat as well as a decent source of protein, which will help you rebuild muscle and keep you satisfied until your next meal. 

In addition to purchasing individual snack-sized nuts, you may also purchase a large bag of mixed nuts or energy bars and portion out what you need into zip-lock bags to take with you on your journey.

  • Canned Fish

Depending on what canned or tinned fish products you purchase, this can be a messy treat. Pre-drained fish or tuna in a pouch can help you keep things clean.

Considering that canned fish does not have to be refrigerated, it is an excellent source of lean protein that can be consumed anywhere as long as no one complains about the smell!
