With winter just around the corner, you need to find ways to keep yourself fit despite the weather. It can get super chilly and you’ll need to make a few changes to your training apparel to adjust.
Here’s what you need to do in order to workout comfortably:
- Layering
One of the best winter sports strategies is to go with layering. When you’re working out, the layer that’s closest to the skin needs to have material that’s moisture-wicking. This can include lightweight polyester or even polypropylene in order to let the moisture go away from the skin to the outer layers.
The second layer must be the insulating one, and this can be polyester fleece or even wool. Finally, the outermost layer must be rain or wind-repellent. You can remove this layer unless it’s really windy or wet. If you wear it during exercise, it can trap the sweat and not allow for proper evaporation. Also, make sure you cover your head with a beanie or a hat so you decrease the heat loss.
- Mittens or gloves
Wearing mittens over gloves is a good option if you’re not worried about finger dexterity. In case they are necessary, you can wear a thin layer under the gloves for insulation.
- Feet protection
Having warm, dry feet is important to reduce any risk of cold-weather injury and also preventing the occurrence of blisters. Avoid cotton socks as they keep the moisture next to the skin.
Make sure you’re well-protected to train this winter so you don’t have catching up to do this Spring!
