These Volleyball Records May Never be Broken

One of the most challenging and fun games internationally, volleyball has been around long enough that many Guinness World Records have been established and broken. This team sport is an excellent way to improve hand-eye coordination and stamina.

Here are a few volleyball records that may never get broken:

  • Most consecutive passes:

In an event organized by the Triangle Volleyball Club at the Raleigh Convention Center on February 5, 2010, the most consecutive volleyball passes was 110.

Previously in the day, club members and associates attempted 96 runs, breaking the old record of 92. A third attempt, however, generated the final record count of 110, in order to include more participants who turned up for the event.

  • Longest match:

From the 27th to 30th of December 2011, representatives of SVU Volleyball (Netherlands) completed the longest indoor volleyball marathon (85 hours) at the Sports Centre Uilenstede in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

The teams competed in a total of 63 matches, totalling 338 sets and 14,635 points.

  • Most people controlling a volleyball:

Taiwanese people set a world record for the most people controlling volleyballs with 299 on October 2, 2008, at YungShin Sports Park in Taichung County, Taiwan.

For at least 10 seconds, the participants had control over the ball.

  • Most smashes:

Stephane Mathurin, Denis Damel, Sebastien Le Bosse, and Stephane Faure (all France) established the record for the most volleyball smashes achieved in one minute by a team of four in Soulac, France on August 15, 2005. They hit 9 smashes overall!

Do you think we’ll see any of these records broken?
